Pulmonary hypersensitivity to Ramin (Gonystylus bancanus).

چکیده
Transient airways obstruction associated with reduction in the transfer factor (diffusing capacity) of the lungs is reported in a patient with a clinical syndrome in keeping with extrinsic allergic alveolitis after exposure to Ramin dust (Gonystylus bancanus). The alterations in pulmonary function were consistently demonstrated on testing the patient in his working environment and were reproduced in the laboratory after inhalational challenge. The importance of the temporal relationship of changes in pulmonary function to contact with suspected allergenic material is emphasized.

Identification matters THE DEVELOPMENT OF GENETIC TECHNIQUES FOR THE FORENSIC IDENTIFICATION OF GONYSTYLUS (RAMIN) TIMBER AND WOOD PRODUCTS
b) The generic listing of Gonystylus spp. has facilitated the identification of traded material using traditional wood anatomy techniques, with individual species not being reliably distinguished. Anatomical identification of single samples can be performed quickly and reliably by expert wood anatomists. The recent development of the computer-based morphological key CITESwoodID (Richter, Gembru...
متن کاملComplete Chloroplast Genome Sequence of Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg and Evolution Analysis within the Malvales Order
Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg is an important medicinal woody plant producing agarwood, which is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. High-throughput sequencing of chloroplast (cp) genomes enhanced the understanding about evolutionary relationships within plant families. In this study, we determined the complete cp genome sequences for A. sinensis. The size of the A. sinensis cp genom...
متن کاملCapturing genomic signatures of DNA sequence variation using a standard anonymous microarray platform
Comparative genomics, using the model organism approach, has provided powerful insights into the structure and evolution of whole genomes. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of Earth's biodiversity will have its genome sequenced in the foreseeable future. Most wild organisms have radically different life histories and evolutionary genomics than current model systems. A novel technique is need...
متن کاملSINE insertions in cladistic analyses and the phylogenetic affiliations of Tarsius bancanus to other primates.
Transpositions of Alu sequences, representing the most abundant primate short interspersed elements (SINE), were evaluated as molecular cladistic markers to analyze the phylogenetic affiliations among the primate infraorders. Altogether 118 human loci, containing intronic Alu elements, were PCR analyzed for the presence of Alu sequences at orthologous sites in each of two strepsirhine, New Worl...
متن کاملFunctional preservation and variation in the cone opsin genes of nocturnal tarsiers.
The short-wavelength sensitive (S-) opsin gene OPN1SW is pseudogenized in some nocturnal primates and retained in others, enabling dichromatic colour vision. Debate on the functional significance of this variation has focused on dark conditions, yet many nocturnal species initiate activity under dim (mesopic) light levels that can support colour vision. Tarsiers are nocturnal, twilight-active p...
